Hello everyone, what should we do next?

Let’s see how this discourse thing works. Not soo many people are here at this point.

We should probably define some categories, and perhaps tags? As to categories, maybe a “Helpdesk” or “Questions” one would be good? And then perhaps a “Developer’s corner” or whatever?

For tags… perhaps there should be tags for “group theory”, “number theory”, etc. ? And then we’ll see?

Sounds very good!

We could also think of adding tags such as “documentation”, “tests”, …, and “Hecke”, “Nemo”, … for problems relating to subpackages of Oscar.

We should promote our discourse at the annual meeting next week in Aachen.

Ohh, that’s a good point. And in the newsletter… And in Claus’ talk…

But then it should first be made “ready”, i.e. at least adding those tags and categories.

Also enable more login options via other vendors.

We now have a helpdesk category, populated with a couple topics (what the helpdesk category is about, and a basic checklist of what to do before asking for help, just in case Pkg.update() is all that was needed.) at Helpdesk - OSCAR: Open Source Computer Algebra Research system .

I also added all of the tags mentioned in this thread, so anyone making a new topic can now use those.

Do you have specific ones you want enabled?

The options we have are :

  • Github (already enabled)
  • Google
  • X (formerly twitter) (but I can’t do it since I don’t have an account there)
  • Facebook (but I can’t do it since I don’t have an account there)
  • Discord (but I can’t do it since I don’t have an account there)
  • LinkedIn

google will already be good I think

I do not see any tags when I try to create a new topic.

Sign up with Google should now be enabled.

Looks like what I tried previously was not persisted. Can you try again?

Yes, now the tags are available. Thanks!
